Volunteer Opportunities

 Volunteer Recognition Holiday Party 2009
 Volunteer Recognition Holdiay Party 2009

As a way to recognize and thank our many volunteers for their many contributions of time and talent, the Museum hosts a holiday party each year that includes special music and heartfelt acknowledgements.

Volunteers serve as the backbone to the Rockwell Museum of Western Art. Through the commitment of volunteers, visitors from around the world can enjoy the largest and finest collection of Western Art on the East Coast of the United States.

For more information on volunteering at the Rockwell Museum of Western Art, please contact Melissa Murray at 607.974.5505 or murraym@rockwellmuseum.org

In return for a volunteer's commitment, time and talents, the Museum offers:

  • Trading Post discounts
  • Free art history training
  • Camaraderie with other volunteers
    and Museum staff
  • Satisfaction of making a significant personal contribution to their community
  • Volunteer recognition events
  • The opportunity to gain skills and experience

All volunteers are provided with a formal training and are supported in gaining knowledge of the collections and artists in the Museum. Each and every volunteer is an appreciated member of the Rockwell community. A wide range of opportunities and experience awaits the Rockwell Museum of Western Art volunteer.  Some volunteers thrive on social interaction that occurs as a Meet and Greet Ambassador in the Admissions area, or as a Docent guiding tour groups of adults or school children; other volunteers prefer the solitude of behind the scenes preparations of clerical tasks.

Please read on to see which positions interest you most.
