Join the celebration! All across New York State, museums, zoos and
botanical gardens, historic homes, living history museums, arts centers
and cultural organizations cordially invite you to discover a
fascinating world of art, photography, history, science, pop-culture and
more during the first New York State Museum Week-May 31 to June 6, 2012.
Visit the Rockwell Museum of Western Art during NYS Museum Week. Extended museum hours from 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Kids & Teens FREE (19 & under)! Local residents with zip codes
beginning with 148, 149, or 169, pay only a $4 admission fee. See below for our daily drop-in activities.
There is no additional fee for the following interactive activities:
Explore the West Activity Booklet - Young buckaroos will explore the
Museum through fun activities! Participate in a hide-and-go-seek game,
learn about real cowboys, and draw a horse!
Art Hunt - Young visitors match an artist's drawing to images found in the paintings and objects throughout the galleries!
ArtPack Activity - The ArtPack program offers backpacks filled with creative activities, puzzles, games and more!
Travel Journal - Visitors become explorers, traveling through the
American West - drawing the animals and original peoples seen in the
artwork. Use a spyglass to see every detail of the Western landscapes.
New York State Museum Week-designed to give guests a taste of what
museums have available throughout the year-is the perfect opportunity
for neighboring-residents and visitors alike to discover (or rediscover)
these remarkable cultural institutions and their contributions to the
preservation of our state's rich heritage.
