GIGI ALVARE TO RECEIVE THE 2010 ARTS PARTNERSHIP AWARD
CORNING, NY - Rockwell Museum of Western Art, Director of Education, Gigi Alvare, is being recognized by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes as this year's recipient of The ARTS' annual ARTS Partnership Award. The ARTS Partnership Award recognizes individuals, artists, volunteers, schools, organizations and businesses that significantly contribute to the region's arts and cultural life.
"This year's ARTS Partnership Award recipient is so deserving," said Ginnie Lupi, The ARTS' director, "Gigi is a phenomenal artist and performer who lives the arts every day!" Gigi Alvare: Artist, Performer, Educator, and Advocate - As so eloquently stated by her nominator, Cindy Weakland, "She thinks art, she lives art, and she believes in partnerships. Yes, some of her work in the community evolved from her work at the Rockwell Museum of Western Art, but without her deep connection to art as an artist, and the ability to engage non-artists in the making of art, these projects would not have come to fruition. She is a gift to this community and since her arrival in 2001 she has made a huge difference in many lives and organizations in our community."
The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes will present this year's awards at its Annual Meeting on Friday, April 30, 5:30 pm at the Rockwell Museum of Western Art, 111 Cedar Street, Corning, NY. Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased by calling 607.962.5871 ext. 223. Please RSVP by April 23.
