A quarter century in the making, the Nancy and Alan Cameros Collection comprises more than 200 of the finest examples of Native pottery from the American Southwest. Taking inspiration from the past but exhibiting the genius of creativity, the artists represented in the collection have stamped their own ideas and identities on a craft that has flourished among their people since before recorded history. From the understated elegance of unadorned, beautifully shaped clay to the eye-boggling effects of intricate carving and painting, each work is a testament to the skill and patience of generations of potters. With equal parts precision and grace, the works in the Cameros collection unite the past and present of Southwestern pottery with an eye to the future. It is a collection that the Rockwell Museum of Western Art is pleased to debut. It truly is a collection crafted to perfection.
