Corning, NY -The Rockwell Museum of Western Art will hold a public reception to honor and celebrate the life of Robert "Bob" F. Rockwell, Jr. on Thursday April 30 from 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. The event is to honor Bob's memory by bringing the community together to share stories, celebrate his life and to enjoy the Museum's collection of Western Art Bob donated so many years ago. The event will include a few words from long-time friends of Bob, cowboy songs led by Museum Trustee Bryan Lanahan and refreshments.
To pay tribute to Bob Rockwell, the Museum has reinstalled the Visions of the West gallery to comprise many of his favorite works of art. In addition, the Museum will offer free admission all day on April 30.
"The Rockwell Museum of Western Art will be forever grateful of the contributions Bob made to our local community. This event will give friends of the Museum and community the chance to reflect on the memories Bob has left us with and to celebrate his extraordinary life as an art enthusiasts and collector," says Kristin Swain, Executive Director.
This event is free and open to the public.
The Rockwell Museum of Western Art community gratefully acknowledges the long and dedicated life Bob lived. Our community is deeply richer because of his commitment, dedication and generosity. Through his love for collecting and love for the "Old West," Bob has left his lasting legacy through the artwork in which he and his wife Hertha collected and donated to the community over 30 years ago. Along with his collection of fine Western art and Frederick Carder Steuben glass, Bob also has left us with fond memories of his famous and familiar stories. It is with respect and dignity, that the Rockwell Museum of Western Art community sends its deepest condolences to Bob's surviving children, Bobby Rockwell and Sandra Rockwell Herron and their families. The Museum will remain forever grateful for the profound contributions the Rockwell family has made to our community.
